PD Dr.rer.nat. Markus Rehberg

The rapidly developing field of nanomedicine aims to apply nanotechnology to medicine. Due to numerous unique physicochemical features, a high potential for the clinical utilization of nanomaterials is predicted. Of particular interest is the development of nanoagent-based innovative therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases. By using advanced in vivo microscopy techniques, our group investigates, the spatio-temporal dynamics of the distribution as well as the cellular interactions of different novel nanoconstructs at the microscopic tissue/cell level in vivo. Moreover, we aim to target switchable nanoconstructs to distinct immune cell populations, in order to selectively alter specific cellular functions.
